Artis Gustovskis sworn in as Saeima member

RIGA, Jan 11 (LETA) - Kuldiga Region Council member and Kuldiga Outdoor Recreation Center's head Artis Gustovskis was sworn in as Saeima member today.

Gustovskis was elected to Saeima Parliamentary Inquiry Committee and the Education, Culture and Science Committee.

Also today, MP Inese Libina-Egnere (Unity) left the Parliamentary Inquiry Committee and was elected to the National Security Committee, and Ints Dalderis (Unity/For!) stepped down from the Sustainable Development Committee and will now work on the European Affairs Committee. Renars Putnins (Unity) has replaced Dalderis on the Sustainable Development Committee.

Gustovskis is replacing Sovlita Aboltina, who has relinquished her Saeima member's mandate and returned to the diplomatic service.

As reported, Aboltina ran in the Kurzeme election district during the 12th Saeima elections and the candidate with the next largest number of votes is eligible to replace her. However, Normunds Tropins, who is behind Aboltina on the election ticket, told LETA previously that he is not planning on working in parliament, meaning that Gustovskis, who is behind Tropins, is the next eligible candidate.
