RIGA, Oct 13 (LETA) – Rodzers Janis Grigulis, the supervisory board member of Latvijas Dzelzcels state-owned railway company, has been appointed as the new board chairman of Pasazieru Vilciens passenger train company, according to information at the disposal of LETA.

According to LETA’s archives, Grigulis, born in 1977, has a Master’s degree in social sciences from the University of Latvia. Grigulis has been appointed to Latvijas Dzelzcels supervisory council in 2016.

As reported, a total of 35 candidates applied for the vacant post of the Pasazieru Vilciens CEO.

During the previous competition for Pasazieru Vilciens CEO, ten candidates applied for the job, but all candidacies were rejected.

Pasazieru Vilciens was established in 2001 to separate domestic passenger services from other functions performed by the state-owned Latvijas Dzelzcels (Latvian Railway). Although initially Pasazieru Vilciens was a 100-percent owned subsidiary of the Latvian Railway, in October 2008 it was transformed into an independent state-owned company.
