Economics Minister Aseradens decides to step down

RIGA, Oct 11 (LETA) – Latvian Deputy Prime Minister and Economics Minister Arvils Aseradens (Unity) decides to step down and renew his parliament lawmaker’s mandate and head the Unity’s Saeima faction.

Aseradens applied for the position and his party members supported it. The issue officially will be solved in the coming week and the Unity will propose a new candidate for the economics minister.

The Unity faction had to choose a new parliament faction leader as its current chairperson Solvita Aboltina plans to renounce her lawmaker’s mandate and resume her diplomatic career.

As reported, Aseradens took over from Andris Piebalgs as Unity chairman in August 2017.
